Eco Brick
Crushed brick and tile, and none of it new.
Eco Brick is a screened blend of crushed red brick and terracotta tile — a bright, bold colour mix made entirely from recycled materials. It suits garden beds, pathways and feature areas where you want visual impact and would rather not buy newly quarried stone.

Real stock, not a swatch. Blended products vary a little batch to batch, so treat these as a guide rather than an exact colour match.

What Eco Brick suits
What can you use Eco Brick for?
Feature garden beds
Where you want warmth and colour rather than a neutral ground. It is one of the boldest things in the range.
Pathways
Crushed and screened, so it beds down underfoot rather than rolling.
Sustainable projects
Where the specification asks for recycled content, this answers it with a product that also looks good.
Warm-toned gardens
Against red brick, terracotta pots and warm paving it belongs, in a way a grey stone would not.
How much Eco Brick
How much Eco Brick do you need?
Length by width by depth, all in metres, gives you cubic metres. For a bed 4m by 1.2m filled to 75mm, that is 4 × 1.2 × 0.075 = 0.36 m³.
It is an estimate. Uneven ground and how firmly the mix settles both change what you actually use, so round up rather than down. We have not published a recommended depth for this product — describe the bed at the counter and someone who works with it every day will tell you.
Whatever you work out here lands in the enquiry form below, already written down.
That is about one trailer load. Order a touch over rather than under — a second trip costs more than the extra scoop.
Why Eco Brick
Why choose Eco Brick?
Made entirely from recycled material
100% recycled brick and tile. Nothing was quarried for it, and that is a claim with a real diversion of waste behind it rather than a green-sounding adjective.
Bold colour without a dye
The red is fired clay. It is the colour the brick was, so there is nothing to fade or wash out.
It spreads and stays
Crushed and screened to a workable grade, so it rakes out evenly and locks together underfoot.
Low maintenance
No watering, no seasonal topping up. Hose it when it dulls and otherwise leave it.
Getting Eco Brick home
How to get Eco Brick
Collect from the yard
Open seven days at 222 Barrington St, Bibra Lake. The loader puts it straight into your trailer or ute, and someone will tell you whether what you have brought will carry the load.
Borrow one of our trailers free for two hours to get your load home. No charge, no bond.
Have it delivered
Across Perth's southern suburbs, seven days. For a quote we need the address, how much you need, and anything awkward about access — tight driveways, low branches and side access all change which truck we send. Confirm the current cost when you order.
Formats
- Loose, by the cubic metre
- Bulka bag, roughly a cubic metre each
- Trailer load, including our free two hour trailer
Using Eco Brick
How to use Eco Brick
Work out the volume
Length by width by depth in metres gives cubic metres. Fifty to seventy-five millimetres for a decorative bed. The calculator below does the sum.
Clear the weeds first
Stone blocks the light to seed, it does not kill established weeds. A weed mat underneath saves picking them out of the stone later.
Spread and rake level
It levels easily. Even coverage matters more than depth once the ground is covered.
Expect batch variation
It is recycled, so the mix of brick to tile varies. If you are matching an existing area, bring a handful in rather than ordering blind.
When to choose something else
When it is the wrong product
- The colour varies between batches, because the input material does. That is unavoidable in a recycled product and it is worth knowing before you top up an existing bed.
- It is bold. Bright red and terracotta decides the character of an area, and it does not sit comfortably with cool greys and blues.
- Crushed brick has sharper edges than a river pebble. It is fine underfoot in shoes; it is not what you would put in a bare-feet or a play area.
- It is not a mulch. Stone does not feed the soil, and it holds heat against anything planted close to it.
