Bulka Bags Perth

One cubic metre, one lift.

All of our products are available in bulka bags — large, lightweight bags that hold around a cubic metre of garden or landscaping material. They are collected from the Bibra Lake yard, and because they are heavy once filled, they need a crane, Hiab or forklift to handle at your end.

For a bigger job a bulka bag beats several trips with a trailer. If you have no way of lifting one off the truck, a tipper delivery is the simpler option — ask at the counter and we will tell you which suits your site.

How many bags do you need?

One bag is roughly one cubic metre

Length by width by depth gives you cubic metres. Work it out before you come down and you will not be back tomorrow for a second load.

It is an estimate. Uneven ground and how firmly it settles both change what you actually use, so round up rather than down.

That is about one trailer load. Order a touch over rather than under — a second trip costs more than the extra scoop.

How to choose a bulka bag

Four things that actually decide it

  • How much you actually need

A bulka bag is roughly a cubic metre. Below that, a trailer load is usually simpler; well above it, a tipper delivery starts to make more sense than a stack of bags.

  • What you can lift at your end

This is the one that catches people out. A filled bag needs a crane, Hiab or forklift to move it — there is no way to take one off a truck by hand. If you have not got lifting gear on site, say so before you order.

  • Where it has to go

A bag can be set down exactly where you want to work, which is its real advantage over a tipped load that has to be barrowed. That only holds if there is access for the machine doing the lifting.

  • Whether you want it tidy

A bag keeps the product contained and off the driveway, which matters on a paved or finished site. A tipped load is faster and cheaper but it lands where it lands.

Collect it, or we will bring it

Collect from the yard

Open seven days at 222 Barrington St, Bibra Lake. The loader puts it straight into your trailer or ute, and someone will tell you whether what you have brought will carry the load you are asking for.

Have it delivered

Across Perth's southern suburbs, seven days. Tell us the address, how much you need and anything awkward about access — tight driveways and low branches change which truck we send. Confirm the current cost when you order.

Bulka bag FAQs

What we get asked at the counter

  • What products come in bulka bags?

All of them. Every soil, mulch, sand, aggregate and decorative stone in the yard can be supplied in a bulka bag.

  • How much does a bulka bag hold?

Around a cubic metre of garden or landscaping material. That is the figure to plan with — work out your cubic metres and it tells you how many bags you need.

  • How do I unload a bulka bag?

With a crane, Hiab or forklift. They are very heavy once filled and cannot be handled by hand, so you need lifting gear on site. If you have not got it, tell us and we will talk about a tipper delivery instead.

  • Is a bulka bag better than a trailer?

For a bigger job, yes — one bag saves several trips. For a small job a trailer is simpler, and ours are free for two hours. The deciding factor is usually what you can lift at your end rather than the quantity.

  • Can I collect a bulka bag from the yard?

Yes, they are collected from Bibra Lake. Bring something that can carry the weight and something that can lift it off at the other end.

  • Can bulka bags be delivered?

Yes, across Perth's southern suburbs. Tell us the product, the quantity and what lifting gear is on site, because that decides how the bag comes off the truck.
