Green Up Lawn Food

One bag. Most of a suburban block.

Brunnings Green Up is a straight granular lawn food in a 10kg economy pack, and the bag puts it at 400 square metres — enough for most suburban front and back lawns together. It suits all grass types including buffalo and kikuyu, and Brunnings claim results in days. It is a feed, not a weed killer.

What Green Up Lawn Food suits

What can you use Green Up Lawn Food for?

  • Established home lawns

A lawn that is already there and needs colour and density rather than repair. That is the job it is formulated for.

  • Buffalo, kikuyu and couch

All grass types, per the bag. Worth knowing on a buffalo lawn, where a good many products carry a warning instead.

  • A lawn that went backwards over summer

Perth summers take the colour out of a lawn. A straight feed is usually what brings it back, and it works faster than anything slow release.

  • The whole block in one go

Four hundred square metres to a bag. Front and back in one afternoon, with one bag and one spreader setting.

How much lawn food?

Four hundred square metres to the bag

Brunnings put the 10kg economy pack at 400 square metres of lawn, which works out to about 25 grams a square metre.

Measure the lawn rather than guessing — a typical suburban front and back together usually comes in under one bag, which surprises most people.

Spread it thinly and evenly and water it in. Heavy patches burn the lawn rather than feeding it, and the marks last for weeks.

Why Green Up Lawn Food

Why choose Green Up Lawn Food?

  • It covers a genuinely large area

400 square metres from one 10kg bag, which is what the economy pack is for. Most home lawns are a single purchase.

  • Safe on buffalo

Suitable for all grass types including buffalo and kikuyu. Not every lawn product is, and the ones that are not say so in small print.

  • Fast rather than slow release

Brunnings claim results in days. That is the trade with a granular feed like this — quick colour rather than a slow steady release.

  • Nothing to mix

Dry granules through a spreader, then water in. No sprayer to clean and no concentrate to measure.

Using Green Up Lawn Food

How to use Green Up Lawn Food

  1. Spread it evenly, thinly

A spreader if you have one, a careful hand if you do not. Rate matters on any lawn fertiliser — heavy patches burn the grass rather than feed it, and the burn shows as stripes for weeks.

  2. Water it in

Straight after spreading, and properly. Granules left dry on the leaf can scorch, and the feed does nothing at all until it is in the soil.

  3. Pick your weather

Early morning or late afternoon, not the middle of a hot day. A lawn under heat stress does not want a feed on top of it.

  4. Deal with weeds separately

This will green up a lawn and will not touch the weeds in it. If clover and flat weeds are the problem, Lawn Feed as you Weed does both jobs in one pass.

When to choose something else

When it is the wrong product

  • It is a feed only. It will not touch broadleaf weeds, and a greener lawn simply makes the clover in it greener too.
  • The bag does not print an NPK analysis. If you need the exact numbers for a particular grass or to match a soil test, ask at the counter and we will read what is on the current stock.
  • Fast-acting rather than slow release. That is what buys the quick colour, and it also means the effect fades sooner than a coated slow-release product.
  • Too much in one place burns. Spread thinly and evenly rather than heavily, and water it in.

Green Up Lawn Food questions

Green Up Lawn Food FAQs

  • How much lawn does a bag cover?

Four hundred square metres, per the bag. That is about 25 grams a square metre, and it covers the front and back of most suburban blocks in one purchase.

  • Is it safe on buffalo?

Yes. The bag says all grass types, buffalo and kikuyu included, which is worth checking on any lawn product in Perth because plenty are not.

  • Will it kill the weeds in my lawn?

No. It is a straight feed — it will green the lawn and the clover in it equally. For broadleaf weeds you want Lawn Feed as you Weed, which does both in one pass.

  • What is the NPK?

The bag does not print one. If you need the exact numbers for a soil test or a particular grass, ask at the counter and we will read what is on the current stock rather than quote a figure from memory.

  • How fast does it work?

Brunnings claim results in days. It is a fast-acting granular rather than a coated slow release, so the colour comes on quickly and fades sooner.

  • Can I put more on for a better result?

No, and this is the one to get right. Too much lawn fertiliser burns the grass, and the burnt patches show for weeks. Thin and even beats heavy every time.

  • When should I feed?

Early morning or late afternoon rather than the middle of a hot day, and water it in straight after. A lawn already under heat stress does not want a feed sitting on it.

  • Can it be delivered?

Yes, across Perth's southern suburbs. Tell us how many bags and the address, and confirm the current delivery cost when you order.
