How much weed and feed?
One kilogram per fifteen square metres
The label rate is 1kg per 15 square metres, which puts the 10kg bag at 150 square metres of lawn. That is the rate, and going heavier does not work faster.
Measure the lawn before you buy. This bag covers a good deal less ground than a straight lawn food of the same weight, because it is doing two jobs.

How to use Lawn Feed as you Weed
Spread it dry, at the rate
One kilogram per 15 square metres, in dry mild weather. Even coverage matters — heavy patches will mark the lawn as well as the path.
Sweep the strays back onto the grass
Before you water, and this is the step people skip. Ferrous sulphate marks concrete, paving, brick and driveways permanently, and once it is wet the mark is made.
Leave it two days, then water in
The iron needs time on the weed foliage to do its work. Water it in thoroughly after that, and mow again seven to ten days later.
Expect it to darken first
The lawn may go darker before it recovers. That is the iron doing its job and it passes — it is not a sign you have overdone it.
When to choose something else
When it is the wrong product
- It stains concrete, paving, brick and driveways permanently. This is the number one complaint with the product, the mark does not wash off or fade, and never tip the bag out anywhere but on grass.
- It is not for lawns running hard up against exposed concrete or pavers, unless you can genuinely keep every granule off them.
- Do not let it reach drains, streams or ponds.
- The granular product is buffalo safe. The liquid Feed as you Weed in the same range is not — do not carry the assumption across.
- Monthly is the label frequency and there is nothing to gain from going heavier than the rate. Keep it out of reach of children, as the pack says.
