Adbri Cream Mortar is a 20kg bag with the sand, the cement and the lime already blended, so water is the only thing you add. The bag classifies it AS3700 M3. It is for the small jobs — a barbecue, a letterbox, a low retaining wall, paver bedding, a patch — where ordering sand separately costs more trouble than the job is worth.

Barbecues and letterboxes

How many bags?
Small jobs, counted in bags
This is a 20kg bag of finished mortar, so the only question is how many of them — and the honest answer is that it depends on the joint, the brick and how much you waste.
Buy one more than you think. A short bag mid-job means a second trip, and mortar mixed a day apart from different bags is the batch most likely to show in the joints.

Across Perth's southern suburbs, seven days. For a quote we need the address, how much you need, and anything awkward about access — tight driveways, low branches and side access all change which truck we send. Confirm the current cost when you order.

How to use Adbri Cream Mortar
Measure the water
The quantity is printed on the bag and it pays to measure rather than eyeball it. Extra water is the single easiest way to weaken a mortar, and a bucket mix is where it usually happens.
Mix only what you can lay
Mortar has a working life. On a small job the temptation is to do the whole bag at once, and then half of it goes off in the barrow while you are still fitting the first course.
Keep the mix consistent
Same water, same mixing time, every batch. Colour on a cream joint follows the water as much as anything else, and a wetter batch dries paler.
Check the classification for coastal work
If the job is external brickwork near the coast, check the mortar classification with us before you start. It is an M3 mortar and AS 3700 asks for M4 within about a kilometre of the water, which catches a lot of Perth.
When to choose something else
When it is the wrong product
- It is an expensive way to buy sand. Past a few bags, Brickies Lite plus a metre of brickies sand costs a great deal less for the same cream joint.
- It is an M3 mortar. For external brickwork near the coast, check the classification with us first — AS 3700 asks for M4 within about a kilometre of the water.
- It is a mortar, not a concrete. It does not go in a footing or a slab, and it is not the bag for setting a post — that is the rapid set or the general purpose concrete.
- Wet cement and lime burn skin, and the burns are delayed so people often do not notice at the time. The dry dust contains crystalline silica. Gloves, eye protection and a P2 mask, every time.
