How many bags of concrete?
Count backwards from the pour
Work out the hole or the slab first — length by width by depth, in metres, multiplied together gives cubic metres — then divide by what a bag yields. The yield is printed on the pack.
Bagged concrete runs out of economic road faster than people expect. Anything much past a small pad is cheaper as loose aggregate and cement, or delivered pre-mixed, and we will tell you where that line falls.

Rapid Set says NON-STRUCTURAL on the pack. This one does not, and it carries a strength figure. That is the whole distinction.
One bag size, so the sums are simple
20kg, and pallets on request. Work out the cubic metres, divide by the yield on the bag, and order a little over.

Using Adbri General Purpose Concrete
How to use Adbri General Purpose Concrete
Work out the volume of the pour
Length by width by depth in metres gives cubic metres. Work out how many bags from the yield on the pack, and order over — running short mid-pour leaves a cold joint you cannot undo.
Add water and mix thoroughly
The quantity is printed on the bag. Too wet weakens the concrete, too dry and it will not compact properly.
Place and compact out the air
Work it into the corners and rod or vibrate the air out. Air voids are where a slab fails and they are invisible until it does.
Keep it damp while it cures
Concrete gains strength over days and needs moisture to do it. A slab left to dry out in a Perth summer is measurably weaker.
When to choose something else
When it is the wrong product
- Past a few bags this gets expensive. For a real slab, loose Concrete Mix plus cement, or pre-mixed delivered, costs a great deal less by volume.
- 25MPa is a nominal figure for a bagged mix you are proportioning water into on site. Anything engineered wants an engineered mix and a conversation, not a pallet of bags.
- The 28-day figure is a 28-day figure. Concrete is not at full strength the day after you pour it, whatever it feels like underfoot.
