Veggie Mix is a 100% organic blend of FOGO compost, sheep manure and cow manure, made in our Bibra Lake yard for home vegetable gardens and raised beds. The compost does the structural work and holds the water; the manure carries a slow-release feed. Sold loose by the cubic metre, in bulka bags, or by the trailer load.

What can you use Veggie Mix for?
Home vegetable gardens
This is the job it is blended for. A bed filled with it is ready to plant into rather than needing to be fed first, which matters when you are putting seedlings in on a Saturday.
Raised garden beds
A raised bed is a container with no soil underneath it, so whatever you fill it with is the entire root zone. That is the case where a rich, moisture-holding blend earns its money rather than just being nice to have.
Herbs and fruit plants
The client lists both alongside vegetables, and they want the same thing: steady nutrition and a soil that stays damp rather than swinging between soaked and bone dry.
Turning a bed over between crops
It is blended for seasonal planting, so it suits topping a bed back up when one crop comes out and the next goes in. If the bed is still full and just tired, feed it instead — see the limitations further down.

How much Veggie Mix do you need?
Length by width by depth, all in metres, gives you cubic metres. For a bed 4m by 1.2m filled to 75mm, that is 4 × 1.2 × 0.075 = 0.36 m³.
It is an estimate. Uneven ground and how firmly the mix settles both change what you actually use, so round up rather than down. We have not published a recommended depth for this product — describe the bed at the counter and someone who works with it every day will tell you.

Everything in it is organic
It is a blend of compost and manure and nothing else, with no synthetic inputs. For a bed you are going to eat out of, knowing exactly what is in the soil is worth more than a marketing line.
The FOGO compost holds the water
Composted organic matter behaves like a sponge. It keeps moisture sitting in the root zone rather than running through, which is the difference between watering twice a week and watering every evening.
The manure feeds slowly, not in one hit
Sheep and cow manure release minerals over time rather than all at once. That suits a crop you are growing across a whole season, where a single early surge of nitrogen mostly gives you leaves.

Collect from the yard
Open seven days at 222 Barrington St, Bibra Lake. The loader puts it straight into your trailer or ute, and someone will tell you whether what you have brought will carry the load.
Borrow one of our trailers free for two hours to get your load home. No charge, no bond.
Have it delivered
Across Perth's southern suburbs, seven days. For a quote we need the address, how much you need, and anything awkward about access — tight driveways, low branches and side access all change which truck we send. Confirm the current cost when you order.

How to use Veggie Mix
Work out how much you need
Length by width by depth, in metres, gives you cubic metres. The calculator further down does the arithmetic. Round up rather than down, because a second trip costs more than the extra scoop.
Get the bed ready
For a raised bed, that is just checking the frame and the base drain. For a bed in the ground, clear the weeds and break the surface up so the new mix knits into what is there instead of sitting on top as a separate layer.
Spread it evenly and plant straight into it
Spread it across the bed at a consistent depth, then plant directly into it. It is blended to go in as-is, so it does not need anything mixed through it before the seedlings go down.
Water it in thoroughly
Water well after planting. The watering is what activates the nutrients and settles the mix around the roots, and a bed that has never been properly wet through will keep sinking on you.
When to choose something else
When it is the wrong product
- It is a mix, not a conditioner. If the bed is already full and the soil in it is simply tired, you want Soil Conditioner, Mushroom Compost or Sheep and Cow Manure worked in — buying a mix means paying for volume you have nowhere to put.
- It is not for WA natives. This is the richest blend in the soils range and natives generally do not want it; Native Soil Mix is the one for that bed.
- It is not a turf soil. Turf wants something sandier that levels out and drains, which is what Special Lawn Mix is for.
- For a general garden bed with a bit of everything in it, Landscape Mix covers the same ground and suits the mixed planting better. Veggie Mix is worth the richness when the whole bed is edible, not when a third of it is.
