What can you use Piggypost for?
Deep bed preparation
Two parts soil to one part Piggypost for a deep application. That is a real change to a bed rather than a top dressing.
Vegetable gardens
Twenty kilograms per square metre in a veggie garden, which is DSATCO's own maintenance rate for a bed being cropped hard.
Established trees and shrubs
Fifteen to twenty kilograms around a mature tree, two kilograms around a mature rose or shrub.
Rebuilding soil biology
Where a bed has been worked hard or left bare, the microbes are usually what is missing rather than the nutrient.
How much Piggypost do you need?
A build and a feed are different numbers
DSATCO publish two quite different rate structures, and picking the wrong one is how people either waste a lot of product or wonder why nothing changed.
Everything below is theirs. The deep rate is for building a bed; the maintenance rates are for keeping one going.

Phosphorus is 9.9 g/kg, which is high — keep it well away from banksias, grevilleas, hakeas and anything else phosphorus-sensitive. Gloves, a mask if it is dusty, and keep the material damp while you work with it.

A published analysis
DSATCO put the numbers on their own page: N 22.7, P 9.9, K 18 g/kg plus calcium, magnesium, sulphur, iron and four trace elements. Most manures give you no numbers at all.
It brings biology, not just nutrient
Living micro-organisms in the product. The client's line is that it is food for soil bacteria to produce plant-usable enzymes, and that is the mechanism that matters in dead sand.

Open seven days at 222 Barrington St, Bibra Lake. The loader puts it straight into your trailer or ute, and someone will tell you whether what you have brought will carry the load.
Borrow one of our trailers free for two hours to get your load home. No charge, no bond.
Have it delivered
Across Perth's southern suburbs, seven days. For a quote we need the address, how much you need, and anything awkward about access — tight driveways, low branches and side access all change which truck we send. Confirm the current cost when you order.

Using Piggypost
How to use Piggypost
Decide whether it is a build or a feed
Two parts soil to one part Piggypost is a deep application for building a bed. Maintenance is far lighter — 20kg/m² in a veggie garden, 2kg around a rose.
Work it in rather than layering it
Mixed through the soil rather than sitting on top. The biology needs contact with the soil to do anything.
Water it in
Watering settles it and gets the micro-organisms working. Dry, it is inert.
Wear gloves and a mask if it is dusty
It contains micro-organisms. Avoid breathing the dust, keep it damp while you work, gloves on, wash your hands afterwards. That is DSATCO's own advice.
When to choose something else
When it is the wrong product
- Phosphorus is 9.9 g/kg, which is high. Keep it away from phosphorus-sensitive natives — banksias, grevilleas, hakeas and their relatives will not tolerate it.
- It contains living micro-organisms, so the handling advice is real rather than boilerplate: mask if dusty, gloves, keep the material damp, wash your hands.
- It is a conditioner, not a soil. If a bed needs filling, one of the mixes is what you want — this is for improving what is already there.
- At the deep rate it is a lot of material. Two parts soil to one part product across a whole bed adds up fast, so work out the volume before you commit.
