Westbuild Asphalt Pak
Out of the bag, into the hole.
Westbuild's cold-mix bitumen in UV-stabilised 20kg bags, 64 to a pallet. No heating, no mixing and no plant — it goes from the bag into the pothole. Westbuild rate it as a permanent repair because it expands and contracts with the surface around it, it can be laid in any weather, and it takes traffic immediately once properly compacted.

What Westbuild Asphalt Pak suits
What can you use Westbuild Asphalt Pak for?
Potholes in driveways
The job it exists for. A hole that would otherwise need a contractor and a hot-mix truck becomes a bag and an afternoon.
Road and footpath repairs
General maintenance patching where getting a hot-mix crew out is disproportionate to the size of the damage.
Joints from 2 to 4mm
Fine work as well as holes. Westbuild rate it down to 2mm joints, which is finer than a cold mix is usually good for.
Bad-weather repairs
It can be laid in any weather, which is the practical advantage over anything that needs to be hot or needs to cure dry.
How many bags?
Measure the hole, then round up
Work out the hole the way you would any volume — length by width by depth — and remember that it has to be filled proud of the surface and compacted down, so the material that goes in is more than the hole appears to hold.
Bags are 20kg and there are 64 to a pallet. Buy one more than the sum says; a repair finished short sets up the next failure at the join.
| Repair | Roughly | Worth knowing |
|---|---|---|
| A small pothole | One bag | Most driveway potholes are a single bag job. |
| Several holes on a driveway | A few bags | Do them all in one session while the compactor is out. |
| Pallet quantities | 64 bags | Ring the yard and we will hold a pallet for you. |
Compaction is what makes a cold-mix repair last. Follow the placing and compaction directions on the bag, and fill proud rather than flush.
Why Westbuild Asphalt Pak
Why choose Westbuild Asphalt Pak?
No heating, no mixing, no plant
Open the bag and place it. That is the whole preparation, and it is the reason a repair that used to need a contractor no longer does.
Takes traffic immediately
Once it is properly placed and compacted. No closing the driveway for a day and no waiting on a cure.
It moves with the surface
Expanding and contracting with the original bitumen is what makes Westbuild rate it a permanent repair rather than a patch.
It stores
UV-stabilised bags that keep for a long time, so a spare bag in the shed is a sensible thing to have on a bitumen driveway.

Using Westbuild Asphalt Pak
How to use Westbuild Asphalt Pak
Clean the hole out first
Loose material, water and debris out before anything goes in. Cold mix bonds to what it is placed against, and it cannot bond to rubble.
Place it in layers
Rather than filling a deep hole in one go. Each layer compacts properly; a single deep fill compacts on top and stays loose underneath.
Compact it properly — this is the step
Compaction is what makes a cold-mix repair last. Follow the placing and compaction directions on the bag rather than treading it in and hoping.
Proud, then compacted flush
Fill slightly above the surrounding surface and compact down to level. Filling flush and then compacting leaves a dip that collects water.
When to choose something else
When it is the wrong product
- Compaction decides whether it lasts. A cold-mix repair that was trodden in rather than compacted will fail, and that is the usual reason people conclude cold mix does not work.
- It contains no cement, so the caustic-burn warnings on our cement and mortar bags do not apply. Bitumen products still warrant gloves and eye protection, and the safety data sheet on the bag is the authority.
- It is a repair material, not a surfacing material. A whole driveway is a contractor's job, not sixty bags.
- Bags are 20kg and pallets are 64 bags. Ring the yard if you want pallet quantities held for you.
